BEYOND BEGINNING QUILTING - Kerin Ferrin 6 sessions TUESDAYS, APR 9th - MAY 14th, 10:00-12:30pm This class is for confident beginners. Students will expand their quilting skills by selecting more challenging blocks to create the Sampler Quilt from "Start Quilting with Alex Anderson." PHOTO TRANSFER ON TO FABRIC - Mary Furber 1 session SATURDAY, APR 13th, 10:00-12:00pm. Explore the various methods to transfer an image on to fabric. Topics will include scanning, resolution, digital image enhancement, printer inks and transfer products. Bring 2 4x6-inch photos or 1 larger photo to class and leave with an 8.5x11-inch transfer. BASIC SERGING - Julia Follett 1 session SATURDAY, APR 20th, 10:00-4:30pm. Afraid of your serger? Basic serger operations are covered in the morning - threading and thread tensions, using stitch length and differential feed and problem solving. SEWING CLASS FOR KIDS AGES 7 AND UP - Carol Robinson 4 sessions THURSDAYS, MAY 2nd - MAY 23rd, 3:30-4:30pm Kids will learn the basics of sewing machine threading and operation, sewing tools, and simple project construction. 'YELLOW BRICK ROAD' BEGINNING QUILTING - Kerin Ferrin 1 session SATURDAY, MAY 4th, 10:00-4:30pm "Yellow Brick Road" by Atkinson Designs is one of the most popular patterns for new quilters! Students will review the basic skills of quilt making such as rotary cutting, chain piecing and reading a pattern. This pattern calls for "fat quarters". PAPER-PIECED MODERN DESIGNS - Carol Robinson 1 session SATURDAY, MAY 11th, 10-4:30pm Have fun with Carolyn Friedlander's paper-pieced modern designs! Practice your paper piecing skills by making a block design to be used in a quilt, wallhanging or runner. Class will teach block construction and suggestions for finishing into desired project. APPLIQUE LANDSCAPES AND BEYOND - Jo Diggs 1 session SATURDAY, MAY 18th, 10:00-4:30pm FULL - ROOM IN JUNE 1 CLASS. Learn a liberating method of layering landscapes based on free-hand and direct designing. Layering is used to create depth, distance, light effects, reflections, and glowing colors. The class starts with small “quickies” and progresses to larger projects of multiple view landscapes, missing and melding, using collage, transparency, and additional components. The emphasis is on “non-binding” experimentation. Layering free-cut appliqué suits many subjects such as fish which students may work on instead of or in addition to landscapes. FABRIC STAMPING - Carol Anne Grotrian 1 session SATURDAY, JUNE 8th, 10:00-4:30pm. Add pizzazz to the textiles in your life. Print your own unique patterns with stamps that are store bought, or fashioned from everyday objects, or quickly carved from erasers or simply constructed with glue. The materials are inexpensive and non-toxic, basic techniques are easily learned and the results are immediate.
