PHOTO TRANSFER

Photo transfer is a wonderful way to capture an event like an anniversary, a wedding, a new baby, or a family history in photo on fabric. The new products that are available allow us to get a high quality image that is permanent by just using a computer color printer or color copier. Bring a photo to class and go home with it on fabric!

MACHINE QUILTING TECHNIQUES
1 session-Debbie Heffernen
Drop your feed dogs and try your hand at freehand machine quilting. Also come experience the new
Bernina Stitch Regulator! We will review basting, stitching in the ditch, stipple quilting, stitching on paper, walking foot, threadplay and specialty threads, quilting methods for large and small projects and batting choices!

CONTEMPORARY CRAZY QUILT OR CRAZY STAR QUILT
1 session - Anne Bishop
Learn how to make this fun crazy quilt or crazy star quilt with a very easy stack and whack technique. Students will make a lap quilt or baby quilt with 6 fat quarters and with two borders or a larger size quilt with more fat quarters.

BEGINNING QUILTING
5 sessions – Gael Boyd
Discover the wonderful world of quilting! Students learn the basic skills of quiltmaking such as rotary cutting, piecing, borders, quilting, binding, and labeling as they construct a charming Rail Fence or a Friendship Star wallhanging using "Start Quilting With Alex Anderson."
THURSDAYS, MARCH 6th – APRIL 3rd.

INTRODUCTION TO ELECTRIC QUILT 6
1 session – Cheri Wilkins
Learn the basics of creating a quilt design using EQ 6 with hands-on introduction using pre-drawn blocks and borders, changing colors and fabrics, experimenting with different layouts, and printing blocks, quilts and templates. Requires no experience with computers or quilting software.

INTERMEDIATE ELECTRIC QUILT 6
1 session – Cheri Wilkins
Take EQ 6 to the next level. Explore the Fabric Libraries, add your own scanned fabrics, experiment with different layouts. Draw traditional or appliqué blocks. Create custom colors and fabrics. Discover EQ 6 tools such as Wreath maker, shapes tools, fussy cut tool. SATURDAY, MAR 8th.

BEGINNING SEWING
5 or 2 sessions – Carla Clarke/ Margi Varnum
This hands-on class covers sewing basics including pattern and fabric selection, pattern layout and pinning, cutting, fitting, interfacing, construction techniques, seam finishes and more. Students will complete a garment and should have some previous experience with their sewing machine. (Bernina sewing machines available during class.)

PIECING "IN THE FLOW"

Explore direct cutting and piecing methods that help inspire your own intuitive process as you play with various piecing techniques. Bend the rules with curved piecing! No rulers, template plastic, or grid techniques allowed! Rotary cutting and sewing experience required.

Make up this fabulous pattern from La Fred in rayon, cotton, silk or linen. Learn how to make adjustments to the pattern for a better fit. Fast and easy!

ALTERNATIVE MARBLING
1 or 2 session - Elin Noble
If it is magical, fast, and direct, it must be alternative marbling. Don’t miss the "oh wow" giggly moments when the paint attaches to the cloth, making cellular, geological, and cosmic imagery. Materials fee $10/day.

"CUTTING LOOSE"
1 session - Susan Carlson
This fabric collage class encourages creativity, playfulness, and serendipity in the piecing and quilting of an art quilt. Emphasis will be placed on the collage piecing process. A willingness to "cut loose" is essential. Freehand drawing and cutting will be demonstrated. Students’ choice of subject matter should be fun and whimsical: butterflies, fish, insects, birds, flowers, and simple landscapes.

"FABRIC COLLAGE FINISHING"

This class will allow participants from ANY of Susan's previous classes to continue working on their piece with her guidance. Make it a weekend of creativity with Susan's "Cutting Loose" class from previous day!

CREATIVE SEWING CLUB - BSR Blast!
1 session – Elayn Chesser
BSR Blast! Come and play with the Bernina Stitch Regulator (BSR.) Students will focus on creating a monogrammed CD case, a beautifully embellished notebook cover or landscape panel with this wonderful innovation.

"POST MODERN JANE" - A "Dear Jane" Workshop
1 session – Gael Boyd
Students will compose a nine-block mini quilt with triangular borders patterned after those in the Jane Stickle quilts with contemporary fabrics. Some blocks will be pieced and others will be appliquéd with simple shapes, templates will be provided in class. For more information see the "Dear Jane" book at the shop or go to www.dearjane.com

BEYOND BEGINNING QUILTING

This class is for confident beginners and will review rotary cutting, piecing, borders, quilting, binding, and labeling while adding new skills to their quilting repertoire. See the new Candy is Dandy sample quilt online or at the shop for inspiration!

NEW YORK BEAUTY/MARINER’S COMPASS BLOCKS
1 session- Cheri Wilkins
The morning session will focus on creating the "pointy" pieces or "rays" of the block using the paper piecing technique, and beginners will be accommodated. The afternoon will focus on different techniques for handling the curved center of a Beauty or Compass block and completing your block or blocks using the method you prefer. Bring bright, high-contrast fabrics to produce a very dramatic look, or fabrics of similar values for a more subdued effect. Experience with paper piecing will be helpful, but not necessary.

FLOORQUILTS
1 session - Katie Campbell
Try a new craft that combines patchwork quilting and floorcloth painting and turn your favorite fabrics and quilt pattens into durable, walkable, art! This class requires no sewing and no previous experience. What a great way to use up all those wonderful scraps. See the "Floorquilts" book and samples online or at the shop. This class is a demo format that requires preparation of the canvas and fabric in between the two sessions.
Saturday, May 3rd and 10th, 9:30am-12:30pm. Class Fee $35. Materials Fee $75.

CREATIVE SEWING CLUB

The Double Cord feet #59 & #60, Bulky Overlock/Braiding foot #12. Learn about these wonderful Bernina feet that can be used for a multitude of techniques, from seaming bulky knits to ribbon stitching to piping & more.

BERNINA SOFTWARE CLASS – MY LABEL
1 session – Elayn Chesser
Learn how the NEW My Label 3D Fashion Pattern software modifies patterns according to your measurements and allows you to visualize your garment on the 3D mannequin – an exclusive feature. Take a pattern with your measurements and sew up a simple
tunic. Class fee credited toward purchase of software.

"FAN" SASHIKO WALL HANGING
2 sessions – Miho Takeuchi
Make a wall hanging using a unique fan patchwork pattern. The size of the wall hanging can be 4 or 6 blocks and students will do Sashiko using a fan pattern around the border. "Sashiko for Beginners" is offered in the afternoon.

SASHIKO FOR BEGINNERS
1 session – Miho Takeuchi
Learn about Sashiko stitching using a traditional pattern stenciled on to the fabric. Materials and tools are available to purchase at the shop. This class prepares students for the Sashiko in the Fan Wall Hanging class and the Sashiko Tie-Strap Shoulder bag class.

SASHIKO TIE-STRAP SHOULDER BAG
1 session – Miho Takeuchi
Make a fun shoulder bag with a Sashiko pattern stitched on the outside. Learn all about Sashiko in beginners’ class 5/10. See a sample of a Tie-strap bag online or at the shop.

"come PLAY with me"

Need to lighten up? Not having any quilting fun? Tired of prissy little piecing? Then, this workshop is for you. Improvisational and intuitive, we'll play liberating games at your sewing machine. We'll slice and dice fabrics, trade slivers of blocks, hunt for bright colors just begging for a place to land in a quilt. Return home with a few oxymoron blocks, in random order! Delight yourself with spontaneous design discoveries.

IMPROVISATIONAL QUILTING WITH JAPANESE FABRIC
1 session – Cheri Wilkins
Find your Wabi-Sabi…the quintessential Japanese aesthetic. Leave your preconceived ideas about color and perfect piecing at home. Work with unusual fabrics, cut without templates, experience new and surprising color combinations to create a small quilt top that differ from your expectations. Use antique Japanese fabrics or the new Japanese fabrics, both available at PFC. This creative technique can be used with almost any fabric combination.
