BEGINNING SEWING AND BEYOND
Open Sessions – Margi Varnum
Drop in if you need help finishing your project or want to start a new one? This hands-on class covers sewing basics including pattern and fabric selection, pattern layout and pinning, cutting, fitting, interfacing, construction techniques, seam finishes and more. Please call to register by noon the day before class.
TUESDAYS, SEPT 7th - NOV 16th .

BERNINA 830/820 MACHINE MASTERY CLASS #B
1 session – Elayn Chesser
Review important basics and learn additional tips about this amazing machine. Decorative stitching, Combi Mode, Foot Selections, Personal Program and more! Students will be working on their laptop emulators. Pre-registration required. Free for machines purchased at PFC.

BEGINNING SEWING
5 Sessions– Carla Clarke
This hands-on class covers sewing basics including pattern and fabric selection, pattern layout and pinning, cutting, fitting, interfacing, construction techniques, seam finishes and more. Students will complete a garment and should have some previous experience with their sewing machine.

INDEPENDENT STUDY WITH SUSAN CARLSON
For Intermediate and Advanced Students
1 session – Susan Carlson
For students who have previously taken one of Susan’s classes and understand her basic collage piecing technique. This class is for those who didn’t finish their quilt or need more help to get farther along on a larger project, or even to start on a new one.

CELESTIAL PORTRAIT COURSE
3 sessions – Susan Carlson
Learn the basics of creating a fabric-collaged portrait. Susan has devised a no-pressure “cutting loose” approach creating a personified sun or moon face. Each student will begin with the same design, learning how to create a face step-by-step, adding their own unique touches in the process.

CONTEMPORARY CRAZY QUILT
1 session - Anne Bishop
Learn how to make this fun crazy quilt with a very easy stack and whack technique. Great for a beginner or a seasoned quilter. Students will make a lap quilt or baby quilt with 6 fat quarters and with two borders or a larger size quilt with more fat quarters.

BEGINNING QUILTING
6 sessions - Kerin Ferrin
Discover the wonderful world of quilting! Students learn the basic skills of quilt making such as rotary cutting, piecing, borders, quilting, binding, and labeling as they construct a charming Rail Fence wallhanging using “Start Quilting With Alex Anderson.” Bernina sewing machines available during class.

BEYOND BEGINNING QUILTING
6 sessions – Cheri Wilkins
This class is for confident beginners and will review rotary cutting, piecing, borders, quilting, binding, and labeling while adding new skills to their quilting repertoire as they construct a quilt from “Keep Quilting With Alex Anderson.”

BOW TUCKS TOTE OR WEEKENDER TOTE
1 session – Anne Bishop
Enjoy making one of these popular bags by Penny Sturges. The Bow Tucks tote has one outer pocket and pockets all the way around the inside. The Weekender tote is quick and easy, made with 2 ½ “ strips (Kaffe Fassett design rolls or bali pops) and embellished with decorative stitching. Students may choose to do either bag. Preparation before class.

CELESTIAL DREAMS APPLIQUE
3 sessions – Susan Powell
Learn hand applique' while stitching Susan Powell’s Celestial Dreams pattern. Stitch this whimsical, happy quilt featuring a sun medallion with folk art inspired panels surrounding the center. Previous applique experience helpful.

CAPPUCCINO
1 session – Brenda Hall
Come and enjoy learning the foundation paper piecing techniques of Judy Niemeyer while starting your holiday gifts. Students will learn Judy’s fast cutting and piecing techniques and with the Cappuccino pattern, will work towards completing either a set of 4 placements and/or a tablerunner. (Using 2 1/2” fabric strips - bali pops or bring along your own 2 1/2” strips.) Students may choose to make the ‘Stepping Stones’ quilt pattern or ‘Waterfalls’ quilt pattern in this class

IT FITS! THE CLASSIC SHIRT
3 sessions – Margi Varnum
Students will learn to make a collar with a collar band, a double yoke, French cuffs and a regular barrel cuffs, sleeve plackets, hidden buttonhole front placket, flat fell seams and rolled hems. Add many options to personalize your shirt with pleats, gathers, full sleeves, narrow sleeves, and more!

INTRODUCTION TO ELECTRIC QUILT 6
1 session – Cheri Wilkins
Learn the basics of creating a quilt design using one of the most popular quilting software programs. Hands-on introduction using pre-drawn blocks and borders, changing colors and fabrics, experimenting with different layouts, and printing blocks, quilts and templates. Time permitting - learn to draw your own block designs and a demo on EQ7. Requires some experience with computers.

INTERMEDIATE ELECTRIC QUILT 6
1 session – Cheri Wilkins
Take EQ 6 to the next level. Explore the Fabric Libraries, add your own scanned fabrics, experiment with different layouts. Draw traditional or appliqué blocks. Create custom colors and fabrics. Discover EQ 6 tools such as Wreathmaker, shapes tools, fussy cut tool. Bring samples of fabrics to be scanned. Time permitting – a demo on EQ7.

BERNINA DESIGNER PLUS SOFTWARE CLASS

Celtic Knots the Easy Way: Using Corel Draw, convert an image to embroidery with a minimum of fuss. We will use a Celtic Knot as an example.

MACHINE QUILTING TECHNIQUES
1 session – Debbie Heffernan
Drop your feed dogs and try your hand at freehand machine quilting. Also come experience the unique Bernina Stitch Regulator! Students will review basting, stitching in the ditch, stipple quilting, walking foot, threadplay and specialty threads, and batting choices!

BASIC SERGING
2 session -Julia Follett
Afraid of your serger? Basic serger operations are
covered during the first class - threading and thread tensions, using stitch length and differential feed and problem solving. In the second class the serger is used for an actual project. Any brand serger welcome!

OPEN EMBROIDERY STUDIO

Come to OPEN EMBROIDERY STUDIO with any embroidery project that is challenging you or if you just want to get started embroidering! Please register by the Friday before class.

SERGE A SIMPLE OUTFIT
3 sessions – Anita Rosencrantz
Using primarily your serger, you will create a simple outfit and start to build a wardrobe from the new generation of serger specific patterns. Tops and skirts or pants can be made in less than hour and can be used as the basis for more complicated embellishments.

INTRODUCTION TO PAPER PIECING
1 session – Cheri Wilkins Learn techniques for making blocks with perfectly matched seams and points.Easy to learn - easy to do - great for beginning quilters. No templates to cut - fabric scraps and oddshapes can be used without cutting to size. Allows the use of unusual fabrics. Attendees will make several sampler blocks, progressing from very simple to more complex blocks.

ADVANCED PAPER PIECING
1 session – Cheri Wilkins
Tackle a Palm Leaf, Maple Leaf or Storm at Sea block, orselect from several other patterns that will be available. A bit morechallenging than the Introduction to Paper Piecing - but still suitable forbeginners or those with some paper piecing experience. We will be focusingon techniques and blocks that utilize multiple units. Attendees can get started on a full-size quilt, or complete blocks for a small pillow or wall hanging.
